Roy Petitfils, LPC - CLASS OF 1998
After graduating in 1998 from Saint Joseph Seminary College, Roy Petitfils, LPC, continued studying ministry and spirituality for two years at The Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas and the Pontifical North American College. After leaving seminary, Roy completed a Masters Degree in Mental Health and School Counseling from ULL while serving as a teacher and Campus Minister at St. Thomas More Catholic High School in Lafayette, LA, and subsequently as a counselor and administrator at St. Cecilia Catholic School in Broussard, LA.
Over the last 20 years, Roy has worked with youth and young adults as a minister, teacher, school administrator, school counselor, and now as a psychotherapist in private practice, where he specializes in counseling adolescents. Roy regularly consults with churches, publishers, and organizations helping them to more effectively understand, reach, and influence today's teenagers. To this end, Roy has published four books, including his most recent, What Teens Want You to Know (But Don't Tell You).
Roy's blue collar roots, natural humor, contagious enthusiasm, and diverse personal and professional background have made him an internationally sought after presenter and trainer for youth and adults. In 2016, Roy spoke at TEDx. Roy lives with his wife of 13 years, Mindi, and their two sons, Max and Benjamin, in Youngsville, LA.
