FR. ANDREW MERRICK - CLASS OF 2004

Fr. Andrew Merrick was born and raised on the beautiful banks of False River in New Roads, LA. He graduated from Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee in 1999. From there he attended LSU for three years.

In the Fall of 2002 Fr. Andrew entered Saint Joseph Seminary College and subsequently graduated in 2004. He then moved on to Notre Dame Seminary, graduating in 2008. On May 31, 2008, the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Baton Rouge, LA. Since ordination, Fr. Andrew has served one-year assignments as parochial vicar at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs, Christ the King Catholic Church at LSU, and St. Thomas More in Baton Rouge.

In August of 2011 he was named administrator, and then in July of 2012, pastor of St. Elizabeth of Hungary and St. Jules parishes in Paincourtville and Belle Rose, LA. In July of 2015 he was named associate director of seminarians. Fr. Andrew also currently sits on the Permanent Diaconate Advisory Board for the Diocese of Baton Rouge. He is a very proud son of St. Ben's and loves every opportunity to come "home."
