Frequently Asked Questions

What time should I arrive on move-in day? Seminarians should arrive anytime between 9AM and 12PM on Saturday, August 13th. Additional information on times and sessions taking place that day can be found by clicking on Student Orientation on the left side menu of this page.

Will lunch be provided on move-in day? Yes! Lunch will be provided in the Student Refectory for both seminarians and their family members.

Are my parents/family members allowed to attend orientation? Yes! Family members are welcome to accompany you on Saturday, August 13th. They can assist you in getting your personal items into your dorm room, and then join us throughout the afternoon for informational sessions.

Who do I contact to get information on Financial Aid? Ms. Katie Reynolds is the Director of Financial Aid. She can be reached at 985-867-2284 or FinancialAid@sjasc.edu. Additional information on Financial Aid can also be found here.

Am I allowed to have a vehicle on campus? If so, do I need a parking tag? Personal vehicles are allowed and do require parking tags. Complete the Parking Registration form and return it to the Central Business Office with a copy of your driver’s license, proof of insurance, and license plate number.

If I have a package sent to campus, where do I pick it up? All UPS and FedEx packages are delivered to the hallway next to the Academic Office. USPS packages or mail can be obtained from the campus post office. Note that this does not apply to textbooks ordered through Amazon.

I have ordered textbooks from Amazon. Where do I pick them up? During orientation and the first week of school, all textbooks can be picked up from the Pius X first floor conference room. Books are separated by last name.

What is the Cams Student Portal? The Cams Student Portal is where you conduct many of the business functions of being a college seminarian. This includes seeing your course schedule, instructor’s names, class locations, final course grade, transcripts, financial aid award letters, and much more. You can reach the Cams Student Portal by going to the bottom of the website homepage.

What is Canvas? Canvas is the college’s learning management system. Think of it as an online blackboard. Canvas is where the majority of information for your individual courses will be housed. This includes the syllabus, assignments, individual assignment grades, and sometimes even online tests or quizzes. You will receive your Canvas login information during orientation week.
